Focus on Aldabra as it marks 30 years as Unesco site

Many of us would love to see the wonders of Aldabra but only a few can do that. Recently, our photographer Patrick Joubert had the unique chance to catch some of the amazing views of the atoll and brought back the pictures published here.

Aldabra in December marked its 30th anniversary since it was designated a United Nations Educational and Scientific Cultural Organisation world heritage site.

Besides unique snaps of the rare wildlife living there, the pictures also show the chapel, guest and workers’ houses as well as the remains of what used to be accommodation for the few who worked there before.

Also featured is the atoll’s lighthouse which is a recent addition.
